چکیده

Direct hydroxylation via the functionalization of tertiary benzylic C(sp3)–H bonds is great significance for obtaining alcohols, which find wide applications in pharmaceuticals as well fine chemical industries. However, current synthetic procedures use toxic reagents, and therefore, development a sustainable strategy synthesis alcohols highly desirable. To solve this problem, herein, we report metal-free heterogeneous photocatalyst to synthesize hydroxylated products using oxygen key reagent. Various substrates were employed into our mild reaction conditions afford desirable good excellent yields. More importantly, gram-scale was achieved harvesting direct solar energy exhibited high quantity product. The stability catalyst proved recycling spectroscopic analyses. Finally, possible mechanism proposed based on electron paramagnetic resonance other experimental evidence.

Highly efficient heterogeneous gold-catalyzed direct synthesis of tertiary and secondary amines from alcohols and urea.

Urea, the white gold: The efficient synthesis of tertiary and secondary amines is achieved by heterogeneous gold-catalyzed direct amination of stoichiometric alcohols with urea in good to excellent yields. Via a hydrogen autotransfer pathway, the reactions of primary alcohols with urea give tertiary amines exclusively, while secondary alcohols selectively afford secondary amines.

Transition metal-free oxidative esterification of benzylic alcohols in aqueous medium.

Oxidative esterification of benzylic alcohols with a catalytic amount of HBr-H2O2 in aqueous medium under mild conditions is reported with a wide range of substrate scope for both benzylic and aliphatic alcohols. The conditions are also suitable for selective mono-esterification of ethylene glycol and glycerol. With catalytic amounts of HBr (20 mol%) and H2O2, the generation of reactive interme...

Catalytic, oxidant-free, direct olefination of alcohols using Wittig reagents.

Reported here is the catalytic, acceptorless coupling of alcohols with in situ generated, non-stabilized phosphonium ylides to form olefins as major products. The reaction uses low catalyst loadings and does not require added oxidants. Hydrogenation of the product is minimized and the reaction leads to Z (aliphatic) or E (benzylic) stereospecificity.
